Moorland View
Terms and conditions

Arrival and departure
Check-out is strictly 10.30am. Check-in is 4.30pm.

Payment
A non-refundable £100 holding deposit is required to reserve a stay more than six weeks in advance. This will be deducted from your balance on full payment. The full balance must be paid six weeks prior to your stay, along with a £300 damage deposit (see below). We reserve the right to cancel reservations not paid in full six weeks prior to the arrival date.

Damage deposit
A deposit of £300 is required to cover damage, loss, extra cleaning or excessive usage incurred as a result of your stay. Calls from the landline phone will also be deducted from this. We take a thorough inventory at the end of each stay. The balance will be refunded to you within seven days of your departure.

Excessive usage
We provide fire logs, Molton Brown toiletries, teas, coffee and basic groceries for you to enjoy during your stay. Usage which we deem to be excessive will be charged at our discretion. Molton Brown bottles left empty or removed from the property will be charged at £15 each. Logs taken from the store in the garden will be charged at approximately £15 per 30 logs.

Cancellations and changes
Payments are non refundable in the case of a cancellation or change in dates. However, if we manage to re-let the property, we will refund you in full, less your £100 reservation deposit. We recommend you take out travel insurance to cover against unforeseen circumstances. We reserve the right to cancel your stay at short notice if unexpected circumstances arise. In this case, we will refund you the cost of your stay in full or offer you an alternative date.

Fire risk
Thatch catches fire very quickly and spreads easily, so please take extra care when using the log fire and candles. Barbecues and smoking indoors are strictly forbidden.

Care of the property
A great deal of love has gone into Moorland View. Please look after it. There is a short list of house rules by the back door, which we would be grateful if you would observe.

Extreme weather
With regret, we will not issue refunds if heavy snowfall or other extreme weather means you are unable to get to the property. We recommend you take out holiday insurance to cover for this eventuality. In heavy snow, we will make every effort to get you to the cottage by arranging for a 4x4 or tractor to pick you up from Moretonhampstead, or by issuing and fitting snow chains to your car (24 hours notice required).

Complaints and difficulties
Please inform us of any problems immediately. We will deal with them straight away. If a serious problem arises that we cannot resolve within 12 hours, we will offer you a full refund and help find you suitable alternative accommodation.

Keys
Lost keys will be charged at £10 per key.

Bovey Castle membership card
Loss of the Bovey Castle membership card will be charged at £20. You will be required to post the card back to us if you take it away with you. You will be charged £5 for each day it is missing.

Security
It is your responsibility to ensure both the front, back and shed doors are locked when you go out. We are not responsible for any loss, damage or theft to your personal property during your stay.

Noise
Moorland View is in the centre of a peaceful village. Please consider the neighbours by playing music with the windows closed.

Safety
Moorland View has low, beamed doorways. Please take care not to bump your head. There is a high-sided bath with a shower, which may be difficult for the elderly or physically disabled to use. The bathroom has a small step - please take care not to trip.

Use of property
No more than four people may stay at the cottage.

Right of entry
We reserve the right to enter the property to inspect it or carry out necessary repairs or maintenance during your stay.

How your money is covered
Credit card, debit card and Paypal payments made online and over the phone are all covered by Paypal's buyer protection scheme. Click here for details.
